Latest CSM Releases Extend Feature Parity to BigCommerce and WooCommerce Integrations

CSM BigWooCommerceNew releases for Channel Sales Manager (CSM) for BigCommerce and Channel Sales Manager (CSM) for WooCommerce have passed Microsoft’s validation process and are available for download from AppSource. While these releases contain little in the way of platform-specific functionality, they reinforce CSM’s objective of feature parity across all supported platforms, as they contain improvements that were introduced to other integrations earlier this year, including:

Supporting data retrieval capabilities for shipping methods and shipping carriers

This synchronization of new feature development across channels illustrates Suite Engine’s commitment to all supported integrations and ensures a consistent user experience from platform to platform.

Most eCommerce platforms contain some sort of way to identify the manner by which products are shipped or delivered to customers. The terminology for these records varies from platform to platform, but within CSM these categorizations are referred to as “CSM shipping methods.” CSM shipping carriers are set up to correspond to existing Business Central shipping agent codes. CSM shipping carriers correspond to “shipping quote” records in the two CSM Channels. BigCommerce and WooCommerce requires the setup of “shipping zone” records that represent different geographical shipping regions. Each shipping region then has separate enabled shipping quotes. Shipping quotes represent static delivery scenarios such as free shipping and flat rate shipping as well as specific shipping carriers.

Enhanced channel credential storage and management

The credentials that you entered in the setup wizard are used to validate requests to send data between Business Central and an external channel environment. Certain API calls are performed against specific sales channel records and require the presence of credentials at the sales channel record level. In some scenarios, it may be that an organization has multiple sales channels that all use the same credentials. In such a scenario, it is possible define credentials for one sales channel, then define that channel as the “Credentialing Sales Channel” for other sales channels.

When an API call is made against a sales channel, CSM will use the credentials that exist for the channel’s defined credentialing sales channel to validate that API process. In this way, CSM users do not have to maintain access credentials for every sales channel that is set up in Business Central.

Channel-specific fields, captioning, and user interface improvements

In order to continue to improve upon the user experience and allow for users to set up and work with the application in the way that best reflects how they do business, CSM Channels must continue to be improved with feature improvements, quality of life updates, and service pack fixes.

“Competitors are constantly improving too, and you have to keep updating your product to ensure that the customer has a better user experience in Business Central for your CSM channels than theirs.”
