Creating a New Model and Adding to a New Phase

Welcome to the HomeBuilder series of common questions answered briefly. Today, we will look at the process of creating a new model and adding it to a new phase. This tutorial will guide you through copying an existing model from one phase to another, setting up the new model, and ensuring all relevant details are accurately configured.

Setting Up the New Phase

To begin, navigate to the models queue in your system. Here, you can see a list of existing phases, including phase one, phase two, mid-rise, and townhouses. In this example, we want to copy the Daisy model to phase three. Since phase three has been created but no models have been added yet, we will start by creating the new model.

Creating the New Model

Click into the “New” option and select phase three. Enter the model name, “Daisy,” and set the price if applicable. If you have lot types, the price is established in the lot type window, but this feature is not turned on in our example. You can manually set up all details, but for efficiency, we will copy from another model.

Copying from Another Phase

Navigate to phase two, where the Daisy model already exists. Copy over the house areas, budgets, and key dates. Note that model items cannot be copied from another phase due to the need for new vendor contracts and pricing. This ensures that each phase has accurate and up-to-date information.

Finalizing the Model Setup

After copying the relevant details, the system will create the necessary house areas, budgetary information, and key dates for phase three. Verify that all house areas are applicable to the new phase. If you were copying all models from one phase to another, you could use the “Copy to Selected Phase” action to transfer all information at once. However, in this example, we focused on copying a single model.

By following these steps, you can efficiently manage models and phases in HomeBuilder, ensuring accurate tracking and management. This process is essential for maintaining organized and up-to-date project details, ultimately improving construction management and execution.
