Adding a New Base Contract Item in HomeBuilder –
In this video, we explore adding a new base contract item in HomeBuilder.
The demonstration covers how to create a new item, assign relevant details, and make necessary adjustments to ensure accurate tracking and management within the system. This step-by-step guide helps users understand how to add and configure new items efficiently in HomeBuilder.
Adding a New Base Contract Item – Explained
In this video, we will look at the process of adding a new base contract item in HomeBuilder. This tutorial will guide you through creating a new item (metal stairs, for example), highlighting the differences from existing items, and ensuring accurate tracking and management within the system.
Base Contract Items Navigation
To begin, navigate to the base contract items section in your system. Here, you can see a list of existing items, including stairs. However, due to the introduction of metal stairs, which differ significantly in vendor and price, it is necessary to add this as a new item.
First, check your number range to ensure there is space for the new item. In this example, we use the number 14210. You can copy the item from the list or the card. Enter the new item number and name it “Stairs Metal” to clearly distinguish it from other stair types.
Item Details
Next, make the necessary changes to the item details. Confirm the code, name, and unit of measure. For base contract items, focus on the whole house perspective. If it were a color chart selection item, you might treat it differently. Assign a trade type, such as “Stairs Metal,” and select the appropriate vendor. If you know the vendor, enter the vendor contract details; otherwise, use trade types for flexibility.
Configure the Workflow Template
Additionally, configure the workflow template task number to track when the stairs are ordered. This helps automate the process and ensures timely completion. Set the pricing per model house area and update the cost detail code if needed.
By following these steps, you can efficiently add and configure new items in HomeBuilder, ensuring accurate tracking and management. This process is essential for maintaining organized and up-to-date contract items, ultimately improving project management and execution.
